Self-catering cottages in the Peak District
Hargate Hall was built in 1899 as a Gentleman's residence. It is a large country house set in over seven acres of parkland and is situated near Buxton, right in the centre of the Peak District National Park. In 1990 it was converted into 12 self-catering apartments, which is how it remains today.
We have different sizes of self-catering accommodation at Hargate Hall. The look and feel of each of them is different, so they all have their own unique character. One thing that they all have in common, however, is that our self-catering apartments are all fully furnished and equipped. When you enter them, you will enter a home from home, with excellent cooking facilities and all modern conveniences such as television, DVD, etc.
Having your own kitchen means that you can decide to eat in instead of out, in the current economic climate can be a great help. Additionally with self-catering apartments you have significantly more space and flexibility compared to hotel rooms.
Our location is perfect, so you can explore all the wonderful things the peak district has to offer for midweek and weekend breaks, and for a more extended holidays. Some of these are detailed on our “things to do” page.
Being located in the heart of the Peak District, Hargate Hall makes a perfect location to stay for your holiday. The apartments range in size from 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms, the largest of which can sleep up to 10 people. The self-catering apartments can be booked individually or several taken together. For very large groups you may want to consider booking all the accommodation allowing a maximum sleeping capacity of 77.
The hall provides superb facilities on site for all ages. Inside, we have comfortable communal areas with tables, chairs and sofas and a good selection of books. Outside there are lots of places for kids to explore and quiet places to sit and admire the views. There is a flat lawn area can be used for croquet, football, cricket, boules, badminton etc., and there is also a kid’s play area.
Well-behaved pets are permitted (charges apply and dogs to be kept on a lead in the communal areas of the hall and upper garden) see our pets page for further details.
