It’s Christmas!! Well, almost. But what better way to get into the festive spirit than attend some of the Peak District’s best festive activities as you enjoy your Hargate holiday! We’ve rounded up our favourite winter events for you to experience.
Peak District Christmas Events
There is so much to do and see in the Peak District, but at Christmas time you’ll notice there are even more exciting and fabulous things to do.
We couldn’t put this guide together without mentioning Chatsworth! Every year the House is decorated with a different theme. Experience the magical atmosphere of a Nordic winter in the house and garden, this Christmas at Chatsworth. But it’s not just the house. You’ll find the gardens are alive with Christmas spirit and the famous Chatsworth market is worth a visit to stock up on delicious local eats.
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a show, a panto or a live music event. You’ll find so many incredible events at the historic Opera House suitable for all ages and tastes. There is also a great bar, so you can indulge in a tipple in the interval or get your ice cream and treats.
Peak Rail is always a popular attraction, but at Christmas time it’s even more spectacular. Santa and his Railway Helpers invite you to get Christmas off to a magical start by riding Santa’s festive steam train through the delightful Derbyshire countryside. Join them on their special train at Peak Rail from Rowsley South Station.
As you sit back and enjoy the journey, a variety of professional entertainers will perform for you. Santa and his helpers will make their way through the train and meet everyone in their seat. Santa will have with him a wonderful age suitable gift for all the children.
Children will receive a bottle of water and a small packet of sweets each whilst, Adults can sit back and enjoy a glass of wine and a mince pie.
It’s time to get into the festive spirit and enjoy a day of Festive Fun at Matlock Farm Park! As well as all the usual animal and playtime fun of the park, there’ll also be complimentary children’s Christmas crafts, meet the elf around the park and a Christmas treasure Hunt.
