Well, it looks like we can finally reopen. At least for self catering holidays. Weddings and parties will sadly have to wait a bit longer. We can’t wait to be able to welcome you all back! We believe that self catering holidays are one of the best ways of getting back out and about. You have the flexibility of being able to do all your own cooking if you want, but you can also help support all the small local cafes and restaurants who are currently offering take-aways, but who will also be able to open up for indoor seating soon.

We are still digesting some of the new recommendations and guidance to see what changes we need to make. Fortunately for us, being self catering does make it much easier. Our holiday apartments are fully self contained. Each self catering apartment has its own kitchen area, dining area, living space, and a bath or shower room. The only communal spaces are the main hall, landing and ground and first floor corridors.

Things that will be different!

We will have hand sanitiser dispensers at key places in those communal areas.

Please do not use the communal areas to congregate in, so others can pass through safely.

If you borrow books, etc then please leave then in your apartments. When you leave, we can then quarantine them for a few days before putting them back

We always give the apartments a good clean between bookings anyway, but we will also be making sure we follow any specific guidance given.

To reduce the amount of additional cleaning/laundry we have removed some of the decorative things like bed throws, extra cushions etc. If you do need anything extra just ask.

We have removed all the hair driers but should you need one it can be provided.

We have removed the board games, so please bring your own if you want them.

What has changed locally in the Peak District

When you come to the Peak District, please do follow any guidance that you see around. As an area we see huge numbers of visitors, especially when the weather is like it is now, and we want everyone to stay safe. Whilst an increasing number of shops and other places are open, there will be restrictions on numbers of people who may be able to go into them. Also lots of the events that you may be used to, like the well dressings, are either cancelled, scaled back, or presented in another way.

As is the case everywhere, the pubs and restaurants have been shut and are in the process of getting ready for reopening. Many have set up new micro business of being farm shops, deliveries, take aways etc. We have even diversified setting up a face mask making business! The Visit Peak District Facebook page is a good source of information on what is going on (or not!!). Of course, the fantastic scenery is always here. We went up Mam Tor this morning to watch the sun rise, and were rather surprised to see that we were not the only ones with that mad idea. There were at 50 others there. It was certainly worth the trip, and the accompanying bird song was incredible!dawn at mam tor

Even if you don’t want to risk mixing with too many people by going out and about, we are set in 7 acres of grounds. So you can just enjoy a nice change of scenery!
