Reasons to holiday in the peak district

With staycations on the rise this year, it’s time to start planning your summer holiday! What better place to visit than the stunning Peak District? We are lucky enough to call this holiday destination our home, and we can understand why visitors to the Peak District are increasing.

As in the Peak District, you can see a similar landscape in the Lake District, which is home to castles, gardens, and dense forests. As two of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK, tourists from all over the world spend winter in the Lake District and Peak District.

If interested, at Hargate Hall you can book your perfect self-catering holiday in the Peak District and you can fill a week or a weekend with some incredible activities.

We’ve rounded up our top 4 reasons to holiday in the Peak District, but we know there are so many more wonderful reasons to holiday in this location and we can’t wait for you to create your own Peak District holiday.

1. Nature is on your doorstep.

One of the best things to do in the Peak District is to get outside! Set in the heart of England, the Peak District was the first official national park, this year it celebrated 70 years since its creation and there are so many beautiful places to explore. From walking trails to woodlands, stunning landscapes, and dramatic views, you’ll never run out of places to visit and what’s more, nature is free! From the front door of Hargate Hall, you can easily depart on hikes and walks without needing to use your car. Nature is quite literally on your doorstep! But, in case you do want to travel farther, there are plenty of road trips you can take from Peak District. Be sure to keep an eye out for Halifax weather or wherever else you plan to go from here, because driving safe requires that the weather be favourable too.

2. Activities aplenty.

If walking isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other outdoor activities to take part in. With miles of bike trails, reservoirs, and lakes for watersports and even more adventurous sports like caving and hang gliding – you definitely won’t be bored whilst on your Peak District Holiday.

When you stay at Hargate Hall, we can provide you with details of our favorite suppliers and the best providers for your adventure holiday in the Peaks! However, understandably, not everyone is an extrovert, and not everyone enjoys going out each day. So, if you plan to stay in your hotel room, you can always use the internet to make some cash while relaxing in your hotel room by playing games that pay real money.

3. Traditional pubs and local cafes.

As the UK slowly opens up after months of lockdown, a holiday in the Peak District is the perfect chance to dive back into the food and drink scene. The Peak District has incredible pubs, cafes, and restaurants. With lots of locally sourced and produced food, you can sample the peak district’s finest food and drink, including:

Beer – Buxton Brewery.

Ice cream – Peak District Dairy Ice Cream.

Cheese – Hartington Cheese Shop.

Puddings – The Buxton Pudding Company.

Gin – Buxton Distillery.

You could fill a weeklong holiday simply by visiting incredible food and drink outlets. Now that’s a holiday!

4. History and culture.

From immaculate picture-perfect villages, to historic houses and long-held traditions, the Peak District won’t disappoint with its history and culture. You’ll find castles and stately homes, luxury spas and unbelievable architecture. Your holiday in the Peak District will be full of wonderful sites and adventures. What are you waiting for?
