The trail is an old railway line, so it makes a great cycle route. It’s almost flat, and it’s got a great smooth surface to ride on. It’s 13 miles of car free cycle path, with wonderful surroundings to enjoy. Don’t worry if you’ve forgotten your bike, you’ll find bike hire at Parsley Hay station. There are plenty of lovely stops, including the village of Tissington, where you can stop off for an afternoon cream tea or a caffeine boost to get you back to your car.

The views from Mam Tor are legendary. You’ll see for miles as you walk the famous ridge. Don’t forget to take your picture by the trig point! You can head out on a two-hour loop walk, or you can make your way to Castleton and turn your Mam Tor walk into a day out, stopping at pubs and shops as you make your way through Castleton village.

The Peak District is filled with incredible reservoirs, and Carsington Water is no exception. You’ll find stand up paddle board hire, kayaks and canoes for rental. Along with tutored sessions and even Watersports courses. If the temperature heats up, why not head to the water to cool down!

‘Set at the foot of the spectacular Winnat’s Pass, high above the village of Castleton, Speedwell Cavern takes you on an incredible underground boat journey’. Why not head underground and take a journey through a 200-year-old lead mine, by boat! It’s a unique experience that you won’t forget, a great end to your summer holiday in the Peak District.
