Our 2012 wedding season draws to a close with the wedding of Heidi and Simon. It managed to be a sunny day, but cold with a good coating of snow and ice on everything! Inside the Hall though it was lovely and warm – I even got asked to turn the wood pellet stove off for a bit. The wedding party spent some time last night and this morning getting the room decorated as they wanted and the effect was lovely. They also had an accommodation plan the like of which I have never seen before. It was all drawn on a length of fabric which was then fixed to the wall.

Who is sleeping where? A novel way of showing the accommodation plan.

The chairs all had covers and sashes with a good helping of bunting running around the ceiling.

Wedding theme

As all the guests came in and took their seats, I began to notice a theme – hats. I suspect there was a hat competition going on! A few examples are below.

and more Hats!

There didn’t seem to be any last minute nerves from either the bride or groom. Everyone was remarkably relaxed and, well, happy!

The ceremony itself was lovely. When the couple said their vows (they had written them themselves) there was hardly a dry eye in the place. During the ceremony, they played three songs,  including one which is a real favourite among my tribe – Dolly Parton – Islands in the Stream.

The happy couple!

Congratulations to Heidi and Simon.

For later in the day, many of the guests had made cakes. A prize will be awarded for the best one, based on feedback received. I wonder who the winner will be?

So that is it for 2012 wedding s. Let’s see what 2013 brings!
