4 DIY Wedding Breakfast Ideas

There’s no doubt you’re going to need some tasty food to keep everyone well-fuelled and happy during your big day. Your wedding breakfast is the perfect way to keep energy levels high, on what’s set to be a long and busy day.

However, there’s no rule which says you must stick to the traditional three course meal. You have complete freedom to go for something a little less conventional if you want to. This is the advantage of a DIY wedding. You get to make all the rules.

We’ve made a list of some of our favourite fun alternatives to the traditional wedding breakfast, and see what you think…

Buffet

A buffet is a great way to provide a bit of everything, offering plenty of choice and catering to all dietary requirements. To make your buffet even more fun, you could even get your guests involved, and ask them to chip in by all contributing something different to the buffet selection, this will not only help with your budget, but guests love to get involved and feel like they are helping. If you’re after a relaxed, informal atmosphere, a buffet could be the perfect way to go.

Afternoon tea

A slightly different take on a traditional wedding breakfast, afternoon tea could be a really fun treat for your guests. From sandwiches to sausage rolls, and scones, and delicious cakes, there are plenty of tasty options when it comes to afternoon tea. You could even give it that extra special touch with some prosecco, and really let yourself relish that lovely, relaxing atmosphere. Why not serve your afternoon tea in picnic baskets? Or on vintage cake stands? This ‘serve yourself style’ can work very well with family friendly weddings.

Fish and chip van

Serve up a classic favourite in a cool and memorable way, with a fish and chip van. It’s sure to be something your guests will love. Not only does it save you the stress of self-catering, but you can enjoy the reassurance that your wedding breakfast is in safe hands and your guests are full and fuelled up.

Depending on your budget and preferences, you could extend your wedding breakfast for a full food truck theme. Offering different styles of food. From pizza to Mexican street food, there’s a huge variety out there to choose from. Thin, what’s your favourite takeaway, and go from there.

Pizza

Pizza is sure to go down well as a wedding breakfast feast. You could arrange takeaway pizzas to be delivered beforehand to save on the tidying up, organising, and budget.  Or what about a build-you-own pizza station? Either way, it’s a fun twist on the traditional wedding breakfast and your guests will be sure to love it. A pizza van is another option, and allows you to create a bespoke menu, with your favourite pizza.

Your wedding breakfast can be anything you want. Whether it be traditional, or unusual, there’s so many options for you to choose from. Whatever you decide to go with, make it wholesome. It’s going to be a long and hectic day and you’ll want to enjoy this special part of your wedding day. It’s also worth noting, here at Hargate we don’t force you to have a specific supplier.
